Introduction:
Before I extol the virtues of the Poker Rewards site, let me be frank; I was initially put off by the “as seen on TV” sign hanging in the top banner of the opening page. I was not looking for a poker site that ‘slices and dices” its way into my wallet. However, it is easy to ignore that banner and focus on the fact that Poker Rewards is a pure poker site with highly varied stakes for various levels of players so that you don’t care if Poker Rewards was seen on TV as it captures your interest and imagination when you take just a moment to look at the site’s features.
Three issues stand out immediately at Poker Rewards. First, their sign-up bonus will give you 50% of your first deposit: up to $200 for a $400 deposit. Secondly, with their reported thousands of live players online and free tournaments, you are immediately vaulted into an appropriately competitive and comfortable betting level poker environment. And, thirdly, the tools available on the site allow online professionals or learning amateurs to play at the right level and sharpen your skills as you go. Their Poker School not only teaches you the games, but provides professional tips as to the best playing strategies, as well. There are also little extras at Poker Rewards such as a free poker odds calculator and poker strategy Ebook which can boost the confidence of learning players.
Software:
Poker Rewards is part of the Prima Poker Network, using Microgaming software licensed in Kahnawake. They have been associated with Casino Rewards since 2000. We have seen reports that said they accept “most” US players. Honestly, the terrain is still confusing on this issue even though Poker Rewards is licensed through a Canadian authority. Enthusiasts with a MAC should use their alternative PC for this as the downloading software is for Microsoft based systems.
Online Casino Games:
The main poker games are Texas Holdem, Omaha, 7-card stud and 5-card stud. There are at least 5 levels of tables from $0.10/0.20 to Pot Limit/No Limit tables with the number of players ranging from 2 to 10. Some levels have games of 2 to 10 players where others vary from 2 to 3, 6 to 10, 4 to 5, and 2 only. The main difference between this online poker and live games is the advantage that your lack of a functioning poker face won’t give you away; but, conversely, you don’t get to analyse your opponent’s telltale mannerisms, either.
Customer Support:
As with most genuine and conscientious sites, Poker Rewards maintains a 24/7 call centre to handle both email and call-in questions. They provide both email addresses for enquiries as well as country specific toll-free numbers for Canada, Denmark, Germany, the UK, France, and international (?). If you are not currently resident in one of the noted countries, though, they explain that you need only email them at the support address with your full telephone number (including country code) and they will call you! When we were online their site was hosted on a Canadian server; so that ‘international’ number may well be Canadian, but accessible world-wide.
Payout Percentages and Security:
Most interestingly, Poker Rewards has a great loyalty program that gives all players at least 10% back in rake, no matter their level of play. Experienced players can obtain even more by one-on-one consultation with the site manager.
Poker Rewards uses 128-bit encryption for the security of its players and guarantees not to allow any outside access to players’ information. Independent auditors have reviewed the randomness of card shuffling programs repeatedly over the years. However, the date of the last report displayed on site is in 2006. In any case, eCOGRA independently certifies the safe and fair aspect of the Poker Rewards site. Information about payout percentages was not readily available outside the members’ area.
Summary:
Don’t be put off by “seen on TV”, Poker Rewards may be the best poker site for learning and participating with potentially thousands of others online at a level appropriate to your pocketbook and skill level. We can’t all win Poker Championships as novices – for most of us it takes the same process as getting to Carnegie Hall: practice, practice, practice. Poker Rewards is one of the best sites for honing your skills and maybe winning some money, too. Good luck! Enjoy!
