The Many Ways to Bet with Tote Bets – Different Betting Types
Author: Neha Agrawal
When it comes to horse racing, perhaps you don’t want to follow the crowd and bet the old fashioned boring way. Why back a horse than is two to one favourite to win, only to pick up a fiver or so; when you could place any
Tote bets
and possibly end up with so much more? Of course, if you aren’t familiar with the
Tote betting options
, this is kind of a tricky thing to do. Luckily, learning what all the
different tote bets
are doesn’t take too long at all.
The
Tote Win bet
is possibly the most simplest of all Tote bets. All a punter must do is wager at least £2 on a horse that they feel will win a race. If the horse does indeed win, the player gets paid out of the
Tote pool
. Although there is more chance of a player winning, the payout would be considerably less than other Tote bets.
The
Tote Scoop 6 bet
involves betting on six successive races on a Saturday. The Scoop 6 bet requires gamblers to wager on the horse they think will win each race. The bet works the same as a Tote Win bet, although there is also an additional pool if all six of your horses win, providing you with a double pool pay out.
The
Tote Placepot bet
is one of the most popular Tote bets. Punters must bet on a horse to be placed in the first six races to pick up a share of a fairly sizeable pot.
In a
Tote Quadpot bet
, a player must pick horses to finish third, fourth, fifth and six at a race. The potential pot for this bet is massive, although it is only valid on races three to six of any race meeting.
Another hugely
popular Tote bet
is the
Tote Place bet
. Here a punter must pick a placed horse in a race. Handicap races where there are sixteen or more horses will count the first four finishers as placed, whilst only the top three will be placed for between eight and fifteen horses. Should the race contain fewer than eight horses, only the first and second horses will be placed.
The last three Tote bets are Swinger, Exacta and Trifecta. With the
Tote Swinger bet
, players must pick two horses that will finish either first, second or third in a race.
Tote Exacta
needs players to pick the first and second finishing horses in order, and a
Tote Trifecta bet
involves predicting the first three finishing horses in the correct order.
